The Karamojong (Choker)
This necklace is named after a tribe in Uganda. Each necklace is handmade. Most of the ladies making the necklaces come from the slums in Soroti, Uganda. All of the profits go back into helping these women and others in their community rise out of extreme poverty as well as to support a Saturday Bible program for children from Apapai village. Center bead is from the Karamojong tribe in Uganda. The Karamojong love to wear stacks of necklaces, and this is one of the most common beads they use. The tribe is among the most impoverished areas in Uganda and about 80% of street children come from Karamoja.
