Amun Ministries is a community-based organization in Soroti, Uganda. When I arrived in Soroti in May 2017 my plan was to spend most of my time volunteering in medical clinics and I really had no intention of forming a ministry. My plan never happened, but in its place I’ve had the incredible privilege of watching God work all around me in ways that are far more amazing than I imagined. Two of the ways I have watched Him work are through our women’s program in Soroti and a children’s program in a nearby village called Apapai.
*About the name: The word “Amun” means “hope” in the local tribal language.
Our mission and goals:
While we are so privileged to serve Jesus by serving those He places in front of us, we pray our main goal would always be to personally have a close and living relationship with Him. He is the only One who is able do an eternal work and genuinely transform lives. As we follow Him we hope He uses us to lead others into lives of discipleship as well.
We also recognize that Jesus cares deeply about our physical needs, and so our desire is to walk in obedience to Jesus as He leads us to reach out to the physical as well as spiritual needs of those around us.
Statement of Faith:
We believe the Bible is without error and is the inspired and authoritative Word of God. 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:15-17
We believe there is one God, Creator of heaven and earth, who exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; Ephesians 4:4-6.
We believe Jesus is the Son of God, that He was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose again on the third day and is seated at the right hand of God. Matthew 1:23: John 1:1-4 and 1:29; Romans 8:34; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21
We believe all people are sinners and separated from God as a result of the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. Luke 24:46-47; Acts 4:12; Romans 3:23
We believe Jesus is “the Way, the Truth and the Life” and “no man comes to the Father but by”Him. John 14:6
We believe salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus and that all who call on Him will be saved. Romans 10:13
We believe in the presence and work of the Holy Spirit to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgement and to empower the believer to live the Christian life. John 3:5-8; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:9; Ephesians 6:12
